There have been many strange men in this house for weeks and they bring power tools that make dust...all day long!
Rick the plumber has everything roughed in for the up bath, down bath (to be reno-ed later) and the kitchen. There was no venting system which apparently is important?
And soooo many questions..."what is the spread for the taps?" (haven't picked them yet!) ..."what are the install dimensions for the tub?" (not even ordered yet!)..."where do you want the sink?" (wherever it is easiest/cheapest to install, says the banker!).
somewhere in there is the washing machine!
soon to be up bath!...and yep, now the wall has to be "sheetrocked and crack filled"!
Next on his list is to replace everything in the cellar...in preparation for the new septic and "tie-in" for house to tank. Oh yeah...and while we're doing that and John is here with the back hoe, why not lay the water line to the barn? Why not?! (poor banker is looking depressed!)
Our man "Jr" Sampson has been a trooper trying to finish the crack filling and sanding in the livingroom and bedroom ceiling so the dust won't interfere with the floor finishing.
Not only that, he came bearing fresh wild blueberries for our breakfast! We have them everywhere around the homestead, but no time (or energy) to get out and pick them...next year?
Steve & Rob the carpenters also rose to the occasion, turning up to rip out floor boards from the barn to use for fixing the up bath floor...again so they can be finished at the same time.
Steve comes for the cookies...
and leaves Rob to clean floor boards!
And then the floor finisher, Ian (Coop) from the city...
...who will be a house guest until next Saturday...three times with different grades of sander, then staining then three coats of Varathane!
And more questions..."what colour of stain are ya goin' with?" (we had a vague idea, but now have to go off to the city to try a few samples!)
Remember those old plank floors?....
...look at them now! even just the sanding has improved the look and the smell!
...and me? still painting and living in this...
...so needless to say we're regular patrons at the local eatery!
And Sara is coming tomorrow for a visit! Kristen is due any day! And cold weather is closing in!...Stay tuned!
