Why people in St Martins look sooo young...

Fog! Every morning there is a "Maritime Mist" that rolls up from the Bay of Fundy and moisturizes the grass, shrubs, trees and of course skin! With any luck this will have an age-reversing effect on me...or at least put the old visage into a holding pattern!
Monday was again a hive of activity with the regulatory pick-up trucks coming and going for most of the day. I gotta get me one of those trucks.

First there was Jim from West Quaco (an area all its own...2 minutes away separated by the highway). Jim came to cut up and haul away the remains of the poplar trees that were felled a few days ago. He is of the French Acadian heritage and can trace his family back to 1607. Now, yet again this may be one of those "yarns" the new gal from Ontario keeps getting fed, but it makes for interesting conversation!
The limbs, branches and trucks are slowly disappearing and helping to clean up the front.
There is a massive, invasive weed growing in the front and Jim calls it Fireweed which is suppose to develop a tall pink flower, so I'll leave it for now as it may be the only flowers on the property this summer.
The season is considerably later than in the deep south of Ontario...apple blossoms are just starting and there are still tulips and daffodils in bloom. Inland is warm and I have spotted some lilacs there...but ours are still weeks away. But they are "moist"!

Bob (ie) the metal junk man came to relive us of one of our piles of garbage (to us at least) and has promised to return with metal cutters to rescue the 30's truck cab and a number of oil barrels down in the ravine out back. God bless that man!! He lives in Wickham (an area I liked, but Jim swore he heard dueling banjos) on the Saint John river, so comes quite a distance to pick up recyclables around the province, so I guess there's money it. (Note: the "shed in the picture is not ours, and is further than depicted and yep, brand new...so you know it's not ours!)

Doug(ie) the roofer came with his quote, shingle samples, and all supplies required for the job. Interesting work method: he orders everything, we go in and pay for it, have it delivered and then just pay him for the labour to put on the new roof? Gotta hope he turns up to construct the roof or we'll just have a barn full of supplies!

Another Bob (no ie) came to look at the back "field" (not by Ontario standards, but toooo big to mow by hand) and has agreed to help me keep the grass down over the summer. Personally, I think we need to get 4-legged mowers that will fertilize at the same time, perhaps later?

Our agenda for the day was the summer kitchen. For those of you not acquainted with farmhouses, this is a 1-story addition, usually not much more than a shed that was use during the heat of the summer (I'm waiting!)for meal preparation and canning the spoils of the garden.
We were going to put this off until later, but discovered that the roof leaks...and did so on the antique white couch, soaking it and now requiring cleaning....aarrggghhhhh! (it sometimes feels like one step forward, 2 steps back!)

Before....

and....

...after!...So much a better look, don't you think? I'm partial to the floor tiles that are thumb-tacked down.

So, things are moving forward (I guess) and with some luck there will be changes in the next month...and for the record, the 40' x 10' x 5' pile of refuse is starting to dwindle!

My Jim (no ie) has been enjoying himself with organizing, tiding and sorting...forever the accountant!
