The Chinook Rolled in...

today, but leaving tomorrow :( ...Kathi and Jim are in Puerto Rico ... (wishing we were there) but we are helping to look after the mini horses down at their farm. They love seeing us come, knowing there's carrots in my pocket and warm stalls to spend the night!

Jim thought it would be a good pic of me in the stall that once belonged to "Firecracker"...and having seen it, I feel like that commercial on TV where the kid comes down the stairs, sees her mom in front of the fireplace and yells "Santa"!

So of course to ease my mind I came home and baked Montreal bagels, Raincoast crackers, chocolate cheese cake and ...what the hell...bread!

The days are pretty routine from a bit of yoga and tai chi in the mornings, some cooking and baking, a bit of reading and a movie here and there...but the good news is the sunrises are earlier and the sunsets later...so we're coming out of the dark!
...and my dear husband brought me a handful of tulips to bring a whiff of spring to the kitchen...

We have a standing invite for happy hour and on occasion a few turn up to swap weekly events on a Friday evening...as well as some tunes and a bit of the barley and vine!

We had a beautiful big doe come up from the back bush to look for some apples or other delectables (my newly planted shrubs?) . Bijou watched her from the parking area and after about 15 minutes when the doe started across the field, Bijou decided to make chasen ...but not too fast...just enough to maintain the distance between them. and when the doe went over the ridge and into the bush, Bijou was satisfied with a job well done and trotted back home!

So ...no news is good news I guess...still loving it here even in winter!
